Jaisalmer - The Golden City


If you like Fort, Jain Temples, Geology, Desert,then Jaisalmer is where you need to go. Jaisalmer traces its inception to the 12th century. The Jaisalmer Fort also called Sonar Qila means Golden Fort. The fort houses ancient havelis, shops, hotels,etc which makes it complete tourist attraction. The Wood Fossil Park, where one can discover and trace geologic tragedies that occurred in the Thar Desert around 180 million years ago.

Golden Fort of Rajasthan built by Raja Jaisal, ruler in the year 1156 AD. It is one of the largest forts in the world. The fort is a real sight with its 99 turrets during night. The Fort stands tall and proud displaying the magical Rajasthani architecture.

There are numerous options for staying out in the desert in a tent/desert camp, ranging from budget to luxurious. No matter where you stays evening cultural programs with folk music will take place.

The majority of desert camps are located on and near to the Sam Sand Dunes. which is about 45 minutes west of Jaisalmer.

However, we like non-touristy option as it provides more authentic experience. The sand dunes around Barna and Khuri villages. which is about an hour southwest of Jaisalmer.
